Ajay Devgn is an Indian Bollywood actor, director and producer. He first appeared on screen as a child in Bapu Piari Ben (1985). This versatile superstar has a body that is arguably the most impressive in his range and caliber.
Ajay Devgan was born on the 2nd. Born in Delhi in April 1969, daughter of Veena and Veeru Devgan. He made movies at a young age and started making videos after high school. Being the son of a great director of action films, it was obvious that Ajay would excel in this field, but he surprised the industry and the audience with his outstanding comic performance in Ishq Inder Kumar and his touching performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Hum Dil De Chuk Sanam, in which he showed a rare talent. Ajay then proved that no film genre was alien to him and he continued to excel in each of his roles. His outstanding performance in Tame Mahesh Bhatt earned him his first National Award. His subtle yet mesmerizing performance in The Company made him a favourite of Ram Gopal Varma. Later, Ajay worked with Ramu on Bhoot.
His first foray into non-commercial film earned him rave reviews for his role opposite Aishwarya Rai in Rituparno Ghosh’s Cloak. In his private life, he married on the 24th. February 1999 the lead actress Kajol. The couple has two children, a daughter, Nysa Devgan, and a son, Yug Devgan. Unlike his on-screen image, Ajay is a rather laid-back personality, but also a master of mischief on the sets of his films.
Ajay has grown over the past two years. In 2009, he had some good films on his hands like Vipul Shah’s London Dreams, which had shades of Amadeus and was very funny. 2012 was an even better year for Ajay with releases like Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge, Rajneeti, Once Upon A Time in Mumbai and Aakrosh. In December 2010, he starred alongside his wife Kajol in India’s first live-action animated film, Thunpur ka superhero. His first release in 2011 was Madhur Bhandarkar’s critically acclaimed ‘Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Ji, in which he is paired with Shazahn Padamsee. Bhandarkar’s first attempt at a comedy also stars Emraan Hashmi, Omi Vaidya and Shruti Haasan.
He went on to narrate Yamla Pagla Devan and had a cameo role in Salman Khan’s Readiness. Devgan Singham’s film turned out to be a milestone for him. The film has grossed 100 million in India, making it the seventh highest earning film. Devgn’s film, Scammers, was released in December 2011. He is paired with Sanjay Dutt in this film directed by comedy king David Dhawan. In 2012, his first release was the multi-part thriller Tezz, directed by Priyadarshan. He was last seen in Rohit Shetty’s Bol Bachchan, which did very well at the box office. His Diwali film Son of Sardar, directed by Ashvni Dhir and starring Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Duttand Juhi Chawla, was a hit at the box office and is sure to be a big hit.
