Brian Ortega is the son of Hermosillo’s Mexican parents, Sonora. Ortega remembers his father teaching him to box at the age of four. Since then he dreamed of becoming a champion, but it was a way to get closer to his father.
In an interview, Ortega said that as a child he often wondered why all his friends were talking to their father, but that he was serious and not very talkative. He says when his father saw Julio César Chavez fight, his face lit up. So he began to take the stop seriously and quickly fell in love with it.
A Mexican-American fighter says his father is his hero because he came to the United States with nothing and no support, and gave them shelter and food. So he invited his father to the octagon to celebrate the victory with him.
