The New Patriotic Party (NPP) said President Akufo-Addo’s legal team is ready to expose the vacancy of NDC flag bearer John Dramani Mahama in the Supreme Court.
A statement signed and released on Thursday by Mr Yau Buaben Asamoah, NPP Communications Director, with a copy to the Ghanaian news agency, says the trial will effectively confirm that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is the real winner of the 2020 presidential election.
She said the PNP’s response in court would show that the NDC has no material evidence of value and would refute the party’s false claims that its flag bearer, John Mahama, won a fair election.
The NPP is convinced that the election of the 7. December 2020 was fair and just. The evidence presented by the PDP that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo won the elections has only strengthened the Ghanaian population.
Wednesday the 30th. In December 2020, Mr Mahama, through his lawyers, petitioned the Supreme Court of the country to challenge the results of the presidential elections of 2020 held by the President of the Electoral Commission, Ms Jean Mensah, on Election Day 9. December 2020 said President Akufo-Addo.
According to the declaration, the transparency of the parliamentary elections was also confirmed by many local and international observers who participated in the electoral process.
The PNP asked Mr Mahama to urge Nduk’s supporters to bring order and stop street demonstrations to ensure peace and tranquillity in the country.
It is also regrettable that the NDC, led by John Dramani Mahama, continues to incite its supporters to take to the streets and cause chaos and anarchy even after the petition has been filed in court.
They have tried, and continue to try, with lies, threats, violence and intimidation to prevent the ratification of the seventh amendment. December 2020 to destroy the freely expressed will of the people.
We are absolutely convinced that the facts and figures presented to the court, including by the NDC, will very simply, transparently and irrefutably confirm and convincingly confirm the will of voters that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo won the 2020 presidential election with a masterly hand.
According to the statement, it is very disturbing that Mr Mahama continues to incite violence through his social media when he invokes his right to use the judicial process to resolve his complaint.
He said that M. Mahama wrote on his Facebook and Twitter walls that during his trial, the NDC would continue to take all legal measures, including protests, to demand the rule of law and the protection of the lives and property of Ghana’s good people.
In this context, the NPP considered this action to be regrettable and unworthy of the former President of the Republic.
During his last press conference he (Mahama) said he only went to court to dispel the doubts. Does he need the Supreme Court to dispel doubts about the loss of the election?
The statement states that several attempts by the NDC to use lies, threats, violence and intimidation to suppress the will of the people are unfortunately undemocratic for Mr Mahama and a violation of the constitution signed on 4 December. The December peace pact was signed before the elections.
We call upon John Dramani Mahama to immediately withdraw his inflammatory statements about his supporters. It is highly irresponsible of him to start a lawsuit while urging his supporters to continue the violent protests that threaten the security and peace of Ghanaians, the PNA said.
She said that when the NPP filed the petition in 2012, the party warned its supporters not to take to the streets and urged the NDC and its flag bearer to do the same.
The declaration states that the nuclear power plant is confident that a fair trial will be guaranteed and that the Supreme Court will examine the application in accordance with the principles of the rule of law.
