Justina Owusu-Banahan, said on Tuesday that NPP won the general election on the principle of development.
She said that the government of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has somehow brought development to every community over the past four years.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani, Mad Owusu-Banahan noted that anti-poverty policies and government programmes, such as One Factory (1D1F) and Planting for Food and Job Creation (PfFJ), provided jobs for many unemployed young people.
The introduction of a free secondary education program has also reduced economic hardship for parents and guardians and has created tremendous opportunities for disadvantaged people to receive secondary education, she said.
Stressing the importance of some development projects in the municipality, Madh Owusu-Banahan said Assembly had built a mental health unit at Sunyani Municipal Hospital, nursing wards in Atronia and community health planning services (CHPS) complexes in disadvantaged communities.
The Assembly also built a three class block in Kotokrom, renovated a five class block in Sunyani Boahenkor Primary and Junior Secondary School (SJS) and built an administrative block for the Sunyani Municipal Office of the Ghana Education Service.
She said the Cotocrom Basic School also has a block of six classrooms, while work is underway on another block of six classrooms and support facilities in Nwavasua.
The community of Nkrenkrom has benefited from a kindergarten project, a block of six classes at the Sunyani Anglican Basic School, a block of three classes at Adedas and a boys’ dormitory at the Baakoniab Methodist Vocational and Technical School.
Osofokrom also benefited from three class blocks, three additional class blocks for Nsagobes, three class blocks for SUSEC Basic School, a two-storey class block and dormitories for boys and girls at Sunyani High School.
The municipality also built a block of six classrooms in Nkrankroma, two blocks with two teachers in Nwavasua, and also built a block of two classrooms with office and shop in M/A Primary School in Tanoano, a fire command building in Abesimma and a new nursery building in Sunyani Municipal Hospital.
It’s crazy. Owusu-Banahan said that assembly also provided 250 single desks to SHS, built a two-part classroom block with additional facilities at Atuachenekrom and distributed 700 two-part desks to primary schools.
With regard to sanitation, ICE reported that the Assembly has built eight-bed toilets at SHS SDA, eight-bed toilets at Asuakwa, a slaughterhouse in Asuakwa, 12-bed toilets at the Sunyani Ridge Pilot School and renovated 12-bed toilets at the Assembly’s Young Staff Building.
According to Mada Owusu-Banahan, the municipality of Atuachenekrom has also built a 12-person canteen and distributed 240 bins for waste disposal in the municipality.
