Salman Khan is an Indian film actor, producer, television presenter, singer and philanthropist. He only appears in Bollywood movies. He appeared in his first ad for a cool drink called Campa Cola at the age of 15. Salman made his debut in 1989 with a supporting role in Biwi Ho To Aisi (1988). The following year he played in Suraj Barjatiya’s romantic hit, Maine Pyar Kiya (1989). From there it became the centre of Indian cinema.

Beginning of life

Salman Khan was born at the age of 27. Born in December 1965. Salman Khan is the eldest son of the legendary writer Salim Khan who has written many super hits, such as Sholay (1975), Divaar (1975) and Don (1978).

In the early nineties he played a leading role in the Baaghi drama: Rebel for Love (1990), the action thriller Pattar Ke Phool (1991) and the novel Saadzan (1991) were all financially successful. However, his other releases during this period, including Suryavanshi (1992), Jaagruti (1992) and Dil Tera Aashiq (1993), failed commercially, resulting in a brief career relapse.

In 1994, Khan starred in the family drama Hum Aapke Hain Koun… then Bollywood’s most lucrative film; with the success of the film, his career was launched in Bollywood.

Salman Khan has won numerous awards during his twenty-five year film career, including two National Film Awards as a producer and two Filmfare Awards as an actor. He is described by CNN as one of the biggest stars in the world, has many fans in Asia and in the Indian diaspora all over the world and is mentioned in the media as one of the most popular and successful actors in Indian cinema.

In 1998 he was arrested by the local police on the grounds of Hum Saat-Saat-Hayn: We Stand United (1999), for killing protected animals and spending about a week behind bars. The actor stands trial in three cases for killing black bucks and chinkar and another for unauthorized possession of weapons. In September 2002, Salman Khan made headlines after he caused an accident in his Land Cruiser outside an American Express bakery in Bandra, killing one person and injuring others.

Khan has never been married and his relationship has aroused a lot of interest among the media and his fans. In 1999 he began dating Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai; their relationship was often reported in the media until the couple broke up in 2001. Khan started dating actress Katrina Kaif, but after years of speculation Kaif admitted in a 2011 interview that she had had a serious relationship with Salman Khan for a number of years, but it ended in 2010. Sangeeta Bijlani and Somi Ali also had a serious relationship with Khan.

Khan lives in Galaxy Apartments in Bandra, Mumbai. He also owns a 150 hectare property in Panvel with 3 bungalows, a swimming pool and a gym. Khan is a dedicated bodybuilder and is known for taking his shirt off.
